Choose quality paint , your house is worth it

you know all of those cliches
you've been hearing since you were a kid :
* you get what you pay for... * nothing's for free... * there is no free lunch... well, even though we didn't doubt the validity of these upon our first hearing them, we had no idea of just how true and profound they really are. it's inconceivable just how much time, effort, and despair we could have spared ourselves if we had only paid just heed to these when we first started hearing them. There is no such thing as a magic contractor who gets quality paint and materials any cheaper, gets skilled painters that work for any less, gets fuel to commute to and from the job site for any less, etc., etc.. When reviewing bids, be sure you're comparing "apples to apples" : 1. are all of the bids including all of the same work to be done? 2. do all of the bids include the use of a high quality paint and materials? 3. does the bid specify a specific amount of labor to be performed by a skilled painter being paid a fair price? In other words, when comparing bids from experienced, professional painting contractors for the same project, they should all be fairly close in price. If and when there is a large difference in the amounts on residential painting bids, there is more than likely one or more of the following : 1. the contractor is not including work that you want/need done on the bid. 2. substandard materials are going to be used. 3. unskilled labor will be used, which aside from the obvious shoddy workmanship, can also pose safety and security issues. So, do yourself a favor - consider all of the important factors and make an informed decision before choosing a bid based on price alone. |
